Midwest Ewaste has been in business for almost 2 years now. We started out in early 2006 with the capacity to process a few tons of electonic waste. We quickly discovered that we needed to expand ten fold in capacity. For the year 2007, we processed over 30 tons of electronic waste. Working with our partners, buyers, outside processors and acquiring new warehouse space, we met our goal of increasing capacity ten fold.
Now as we enter 2008, we see that we need to increase capacity again. After only 6 weeks, we have processed, or sent to our partner processors, over 10 tons of electronic waste. This means that by the end of 2008 we will have expanded capacity another three fold.
I would like to thank our collection partners DR Electronics, Reid Sales Music, Computer Reboot, Computers Made Easy, and Wildcat Creek Solid Waste District for helping us through our growing pains.
The best news is the great job Computer Reboot is doing at refurbishing and putting computers back into service. Hundreds of computers, monitors, and other peripherals, have been given new homes and a second life instead of being burried in a landfill or being scrapped. Re-use is always preferable to recycling when possible. The amount of electronic waste mentioned above does not include the many tons of equipment saved from the grinder by Computer Reboot.
